The SARC team provides a 24/7 service across the whole of Teesside. SARC can obtain information and evidence without involving the police - this gives victims time to decide whether or not they wish to report. SARC staff complete a risk and needs assessment for clients and agree a care pathway based on that information. This can include referral into specialist services such as Sexual Health or Counselling. SARC staff can provide emotional support and help clients to explore their options following rape and sexual assault. There is no need to report to the police to access SARC services, however, most victims who do report to the police will be brought to the SARC. The SARC for Teesside is called Helen Britton House.
