Formed in April 2015 the Young Victims’ Service delivers short, solution focussed, interventions to young people affected by Crime and Antisocial Behaviour in the Avon and Somerset Police area. Victims usually receive up to 7 sessions focussed around helping them to cope and recover from their experience. Help can include offence specific advice; advocacy with Police, schools and other agencies; support attending Court – including pre-court visits and preparation of Victim Personal Statements; coping strategies; and introduction to community based activities and support.
Generally 8-18 years of age, can be up to 25 where additional needs are identified.

Young Victims' Service works within the following crime types:
Anti-Social Behaviour, Burglary, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Forced Marriage/'Honour-Based' Violence, Fraud, General Offences - (Violence, Theft, etc.), Hate Crime, Homicide, Stalking, Terrorism, Victims of Conflict, Road Victims.
Staffed Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, but direct work with victims’ is at their convenience including evenings and weekends.
